How to Install Windows XP on IBM Servers
-
If you reach this site and find your self reading this article you are probably trying to Install Windows XP Pro to any IBM Servers and having trouble as the Installer can’t find your server’s hard drive. And probably you don’t have any idea what is the problem, then I think I can help you with that.
The problem why the Windows XP can’t install in your IBM Servers is the Windows XP installer doesn’t have built-in driver for your “raid controller”. And if that is the error, we can fix that for two ways.
- By pressing F6 to install third party driver thru Floppy Disk (diskette). But what if you don’t have Floppy Drive or External Floppy Drive?
- By Integrating the raid controller’s driver in your CD installer.
The first way to fix this problem is common if you really know what your are doing, but in the absence of floppy drive is a big headache. You have no choice but to integrate the driver on your CD installer. Sometimes it also happening on Windows Servers installer if you did not follow the IBM Instruction manual. Usually, the vendor are providing IBM Server Guide which will help you to configure your server and installation of operating system.
Later on this site I’ll post how to integrate third party drivers on your CD Installer using nLite software.
