The 10-time world champion and the only boxer who won six titles in six divisions Oscar De La Hoya announced today that he had enough in the boxing world. De la Hoya is one of the Pay Per View star and a highest paying boxing legend that still living today. “Now I understand why an athlete has so much hard time retiring,” De la Hoya said in front of international media, friends together of his family at Nokia Plaza in downtown Los Angeles.
“The decision was based on making sure, first of all, I would not disappoint fans and myself. It is not fair to step inside the ring and not give my best,” De La Hoya said.
Oscar De La Hoya is having a hard time when he will retire on the last few years, but after his one sided beating against the Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao who battered him and force him to quit to his stool in the end of round 8 made that easy. According to coach Freddie Roach, Oscar cannot full the trigger anymore and it show indeed on his last fight Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De la Hoya don’t have it anymore.
